  • It is not possible to be perfectly correct in interpreting building codes and the ADA requirements. Scoping is particularly complex and can be interpreted differently in different cities and by different inspectors. There may be local codes that vary from the model building codes and the ADA specifications. In the building codes, the individual inspectors make judgments to the best of their ability within the local policies or philosophy. The final authority rests with the local CBO (Chief Building Official).
